Biography

Prof.Johannes Njagi Njoka is a Professor in the School of Education and Social Sciences at Karatina University where he has been a faculty member since 2009. Previously he served at Moi University as Assistant Dean of Students and became the founding dean of students at the defunct Karatina University College, the precursor of the current Karatina University. At Karatina University, Profesor Njoka served as Head of Department of Psychology and Communication Technology and later the Department of Education from 2010 to 2019 where he proactively participated in developing market-driven curricula in education that have tremendously attracted students hence bringing money to the University. He rose to the position of Dean, School of Education and Social Sciences which role he served from 2019 to 2021 and was instrumental in transforming the School in terms of developing and reviewing more relevant curricula and expanding students numbers in the School. He has supervised eight (8) PhD to completion and seventeen (17 masters students. He continues to mentor very many others who are in different stages of progress.

Prof. Njoka’s research interests are in motivation and maximization of learning outcomes of students, leadership and group dynamics, discipline  and shaping of personality of learners. He engages in multidisciplinary research by collaborating with academics from diverse specializations. The Professor has participated to over ten (10) international academic conferences where he has proactively presented research  papers in diverse topics within educational psychology and counseling.He Has once served as a council member in the defunct Karatina University College Council in 2010-2011. He is a prolific researcher  who has  published three (3) university level books and fifty four (54) research  articles in refereed  journals. He endeavors to remain at the cutting edge of knowledge and innovations where he aggressively integrates theory and practice by remaining actively involved in the industry serving as Chairman and member of several  basic education institutions’  Boards of Management in Kenya. He is also an external examiner in many universities in the republic. Regarding community outreach, the Professor also served as Board Chairman for Embu Water and Sanitation Company and Currently serving as a Director. The Professor continues to serve in many leadership positions in the society where he is impactful and resourceful by offering transformative leadership and ideas in the institutions that he serves.
