Biography

Dr. Mwai Josphat Karani is a Lecturer in the Department of Informatics and Innovation at Karatina University. He holds a PhD in Information Technology, a Master of Science in Computer Science, and a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology. His professional experience spans teaching, research, curriculum development, and academic leadership.

He has extensive experience in designing, implementing, and evaluating undergraduate and postgraduate curricula, as well as supervising postgraduate students to successful completion. His research interests include ICT for Development (ICT4D), cybersecurity, e-governance, and e-learning.

He also possesses strong practical expertise in the development and deployment of ICT solutions within the education sector, supporting digital transformation, institutional efficiency, and technology-enhanced teaching and learning. He is committed to nurturing the next generation of ICT professionals through high-quality instruction, rigorous research mentorship, and active engagement with industry and professional bodies.

His career objective is to provide strategic academic leadership by strengthening curriculum development, enhancing research output, and mentoring the next generation of ICT professionals.
