Dr. Josiah Kinyua Murage has been serving as a lecturer in the Department of Humanities and Languages within the School of Education and Social Sciences at Karatina University since 2012. He attained his Ph.D. in Theology and Master of Theology from the University of Stellenbosch in the Republic of South Africa. Additionally, Dr. Murage holds a Master’s degree in Theology and Development as well as a Bachelor of Theology from the University of KwaZulu-Natal from the Republic of South Africa. He also obtained a Diploma of Theology from St. Paul’s University in Limuru, Kenya and is ordained as priest in the Anglican Church of Kenya.
Dr. Murage has extensive experience in teaching both undergraduate and postgraduate students. In 2015, he was appointed as the Coordinator of the Education Learning Centre at Karatina University. In this role, he oversaw School Based programs, including Early Childhood and Primary Education degree, Diploma in Early Childhood, and Diploma in Secondary Education. Dr. Murage has successfully supervised Doctorate and Master’s Degree students to graduation and has actively participated in International Academic Conferences. He has published over seventeen (17) articles to refereed journals. Additionally, he has played a key role in curriculum development within the Department of Humanities and Languages and also in various Theological Colleges in Kenya. He is an Academic Leader for Doctorate and Masters Programmes in Religious Studies in the Department and has been actively involved in several committees at both the School and department levels. He is a member of the African Association for Pastoral Studies and Counselling (AAPSC). Beyond academia, Dr. Murage has contributed to community outreach initiatives, serving as a Board of Management Member (BOM) in various high schools. He has also engaged in Youth Counseling, Church workshops, and leadership development programs across different church denominations in Kenya.
